Public Transportation

I have decided that on Monday, I am going to come to work via public transportation.

After spending some time in Europe, I have been inspired to support Cleveland’s public transportation system (other than a means to get to the Muni lot before a Browns game).

From Westpark to Mid-Town — I am on a mission.

At first glance, I think I am going to take the train from Westpark to Tower City, then jump on the bus down Superior to East 40th.

Sure, I am saving gas, but I don’t use that much on my 24-mile commute (round trip). I fill up twice a month.

I see this as a step forward. The only way to get people to support public transportation is to start using it. If my usage inspired someone I know to use it, then they might inspire more usage. If more people use it, then RTA can spend more on buses, new routes, maintenance, clean-up, technologies, etc.

Of course, one ride will only yield about $4 to RTA, but if al goes well, this could be my daily commute, and that could help RTA, Cleveland, the planet, and me.

A win-win.

The complete photo catalog…

If you are interested, I have finally updated the complete catalog of photos from the trip.

You can find them here.

Zippy Goes to Europe

zippyWe have added a new photo library to the Web Gallery:

Zippy Goes to Europe.

We took along a mascot for the trip, a travel gnome. Just like the travelocity.com gnome.

please enjoy.

3 great days in Paris…

we think we covered a lot of ground.

- Eiffel Tower
- Notre Dame
- Le Louvre
- Versailles
- L’Arc de Triumph
- Le Champs Elysee

But at breakfast this morning the German couple next to us, it sounded like, they did most of that yesterday.

Traveling by foot, by train, and by boat, getting around Paris was a cinch.

In the US you see signs on doors letting you know that guns are not allowed, here they let know if dogs are allowed.

Cars are tiny, and they pack a lot of them in small places. There is no way a Hummer could make it down a street here, let alone find a parking place.

Paris has such beautiful meld of 500 year old structures and cutting edge architecture.

Parks are everywhere. People are everywhere. If there is green space the are 10s of people (young, old, couples, and families alike) sitting around with bread and wine, a book, a soccer ball, their dog, or just a blanket.

Paris was such a great city.

Goodbye Brussels

what a great last day in Brussels.

We hit the comic book museum and the creation of Tin Tin and the Smurfs.

We headed back to the hotel for a nice nap (the time change finally caught up to me).

Then it was off to Mort Subit where we met Bart.

Then we hit the Delirium Cafe, the Mecca for all beer drinkers. 2004 available beers. There we met Nicholas.
Then we had a nice dinner followed by waffles in the middle of the Grande Place.

A great final day in Brussels… Next up: Paris.
